Deutsche Post World Net (DPWN) and the ver.di union have concluded a collective wage agreementfor the employees of the new DHL air hub in Leipzig/Halle in eastern Germany. The four-year
agreement covers a system of remuneration standard to the industry and flexible working hours.“We have thereby fulfilled an important requirement so that the 3,500 DHL jobs at theLeipzig/Halle air hub can become a reality,” stated DPWN chairman Klaus Zumwinkel. The new air hubat Leipzig/Halle should create some 10,000 new jobs in total in the region from 2008 onwards. ForDHL, the agreement provided the necessary planning reliability for the construction and thecommencement of operations at the new European hub.
