Post-Expo: New-look Poste Maroc targets growth

Post Maroc is targeting growth in mail, parcels and other businesses after a successfulturnaround, director general Mohammed Wakrim said at the Post-Expo trade fair in Paris. The

Moroccan national post company, which last month launched a new corporate identity, aims fordouble-digit growth in the next few years, he told the World Postal Business Forum.

Following the separation of the post and telecommunications administrations in 1998, Post Marochad been restructured from 2000 to 2004 into a competitive company ahead of postal liberalisationin Morocco, Wakrim said. The post office made a profit of nearly 11 million euros on turnover ofabout 113 million euros in 2004.

Poste Maroc aimed to grow revenues about 12 per cent a year, increasing its market share in themail, parcels and financial services sectors, Wakrim said. In the international parcels market,where it offers services through EMS Chronopost International Maroc, a joint venture with the LaPoste express subsidiary, it was planning new services, he noted. Logistics services were alsounder consideration.
