Fiege eyes acquisitions in Europe

German logistics company Fiege plans to launch a major acquisition spree in Europe, Germanfinancial daily Handelsblatt reported. The family-owned firm was planning takeovers in eastern

Europe, Scandinavia and France. “We already have several companies on the radar screen and want toinvest about 300 million euros in total,” managing partner Heinz Fiege was quoted as saying. Thecompany would finance the acquisitions internally.

Fiege ruled out taking a stake in the planned new German B2B parcels firm Red Parcel Post,however. “We looked at the concept, but do not want to take a holding,” he said. Fiege generatesmost of its 1.5 billion euro turnover from contract logistics. Heinz Fiege stressed that thecompany aimed to concentrate on logistics activities in Europe in future.
