Claude Béglé

Claude Béglé, head of GeoPost International, the international parcels division of France’s LaPoste, is poised to transfer to Deutsche Post World Net, according to a report in German newspaper

Die Welt. The 56-year-old told the newspaper he had received several offers and wanted to leave theFrench group. The newspaper did not say what post he would take on at DPWN.

Béglé has been the driving force behind the international expansion of GeoPost in recent years, primarily through its acquisition of a controlling majority stake in German-based parcels networkDPD, number two behind Deutsche Post. Earlier this year, the Swiss-born manager announced plans toexpand the DPD European network into international markets over the next few years through astrategy of acquisitions and partnerships financed by a one billion euro budget.

GeoPost International is seen by experts as one of the main growth pillars for La Poste as itrestructures its mail business and develops its other businesses. GeoPost International hadturnover of about 1.5 billion euros in 2004, while 313 million parcels went through the DPDEuropean network.
