According to CEO Jean-Paul Bailly the operating result of La Poste in 2004 increased by 69% to523 million Euro with a turnover plus by 3,7% (18,7 billion Euro).
The operating margin climbed from 1,7% to 2,8%, the net profit raised by 85% reaching 374million. The courier business had to face a decreasing total volume but still represented 58% ofthe gross income, obtaining a turnover plus of 2,6%. The express sector (13% portion) increased by8,8%. In this sector La Poste mostly profited from the foreign subsidiaries in England, Benelux andGermany. With financial service achievements La post reached a revenue of 4.3 billion euro (plus3,5 per cent). The turnover obtained in international business improved from 12,7% to 14,1%.
